Uncharted: The Lost Legacy – A Journey – Part 1
A Spoiler Free Journey through Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
“Together, we will protect the lost legacy of India.”
If I were describe the game in one sentence, that would be it. The journey through Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is a looking glass into the heart of India. Join me on my spoiler free* photographic journey through India with Chloe and Nadine.
*Some small spoilers are unavoidable, but are only minor and will not ruin any future experiences with the game.
The journey starts inside a shop in the slums of a major Indian city, with a clever little shop keeper that is barley 10 years old. The shop is exactly what you would expect in an Indian city, with trinkets, souvenirs and weaving’s throughout. The market area is busy, making it hard to move through, and the surrounding buildings are dilapidated and feel like they will fall on you. The sun is in just the right place to make seeing through the haze difficult but not impossible.
After hitching a ride out of the market area, I reach a deeper slum on the outskirts of the city. It’s after dark, and the city shows itself to be even seedier now than it was in the light. I move past fallen over fences, people sleeping on the street, and up onto a rooftop.
I move across the rooftops, and through more degenerating buildings to reach the destination I am looking for.
I soon meet up with my partner in crime, Nadine. Those of you that have played the previous Uncharted games may recognise her.
Together, we move through the buildings of the slum, moving forward and avoiding trouble.
The city is amazing detailed and is charming in it’s own dingy way. I had a real sense that danger was just around the next corner, the journey across the rooftops is precariously awesome and the views are spectacular.
After some more rooftop madness, we make a hasty getaway from the city. Chloe and Nadine’s journey together now takes them deep into the Indian Jungle.
The Indian Jungle
Anyone familiar with the series won’t be surprised that the focus is on the Jungle. It has worked well in the past, and it has worked well again. Chloe and Nadine find themselves overlooking an amazing vista with a temple in the background.
The detail in this game is incredible, and one way I have tried to capture this for you is with photos of things that might be overlooked in other games. Below is a picture of a dragonfly humming above the drop off, with the mist rolling down off the mountains, the sky beginning to appear, and the sunrise shining through the valley.
From here, we need to scout out our next destination and get moving. Jeep time!
The wildlife in this area is vibrant and abundant! Here you can see a flock of birds fly off after being startled by our Jeep. Throughout this area there are monkeys, birds, insects and more. I felt that one of this game’s strong points is the connection with the wildlife.
I noticed while in this area that the lack of a pose in photo mode could ruin some shots. Chloe seems hunched over like she has a monkey on her back, and putting a smile on her face doesn’t make it any better. Throughout the game I tried to pick moments where Chloe was doing something other than just standing there because of this.
Chloe Hunched Over
And that is enough for one post!
Thanks for joining me, and stay tuned for Part 2 of the journey through Uncharted: The Lost Legacy.
